Germany Imported Over 50 Tonnes Of Medical Cannabis In Q1 2026
Germany’s Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) published medical cannabis product import data for the first quarter of 2026, and according to BfArM, 50.539 tonnes of medical cannabis products were imported from other countries during Q1 2026:

Perhaps a more properly contextualized way to describe the import data total is that it was at least 50.539 tonnes, as the true import total for Q1 2026 could prove to be greater over time. Consider that the initial reported total for Q4 2025 was 56.625 tonnes. However, that total has since been increased to 60.772 tonnes, as seen in the graph above from BfArM.
Furthermore, BfArM previously updated its Q3 2025 totals from an initially reported 56.915 tonnes up to 59.076 tonnes. Data for Q1 2025 and Q2 2025 also underwent slight adjustments over time. Combining the last four quarters in which data have been reported, Germany imported over 218 tonnes of medical cannabis products, which is a staggering figure by every measure.
Once again, Canada served as the top source for medical cannabis imports to Germany. Below is data for the total and country of origin for medical cannabis imports to Germany for all of 2024 and 2025, and the first quarter of 2026:

Germany continues to serve as the largest legal medical cannabis market in Europe and the world’s top destination for medical cannabis imports from other nations.
