Ghana Cannabis Industry Association Plans Trade Mission To Czechia

Members of Ghana’s emerging cannabis industry are planning a trade mission trip to the Czech Republic as part of an ongoing effort to develop the nation’s cannabis industry and boost collaboration with other nations.

“The Ghana Chamber of Cannabis Industry (Cannacham) plans to lead a trade mission to the Czech Republic in April 2026 to establish direct contacts with Czech manufacturers, regulators, and technology providers. The plan follows a recent meeting between Cannacham and the Trade Department of the Czech Republic’s Embassy in Accra.” reported Ecofin Agency.

“Mark G. Darko, Chief Executive Officer of Cannacham, said the meeting marked an important step toward building strategic international partnerships to support the responsible growth of Ghana’s cannabis industry, adding that the Czech Republic’s experience in regulation, research, and technology offers valuable opportunities for collaboration.” they also reported.

Cannacham describes itself as “a premier industry chamber for stakeholders in the legal cannabis sector,” providing “advocacy, training, market intelligence, and networking opportunities to strengthen Ghana’s medicinal and industrial cannabis ecosystem.”

“At the heart of our efforts is collaboration. We forge partnerships with governments, businesses, and international bodies to advocate for progressive policies that foster industry growth while ensuring responsible practices.” Cannacham states on its website.

The industry organization’s trade mission to the Czech Republic follows the Ghana Management of the Narcotics Control Commission’s (NACOC) engagement of Moroccan Ambassador Mrs. Imane Quaadill last summer to discuss Ghana’s ongoing cannabis policy implementation. NACOC is Ghana’s current cannabis industry regulatory body.

Ghana’s parliament approved the ‘Narcotics Control Commission Bill, 2023’ roughly two years ago. The measure tasked Ghana’s Ministry of Interior with issuing cannabis cultivation licenses.

In 2020, Ghana’s parliament passed a measure authorizing the production of low-THC cannabis for medical and research purposes. However, the nation’s Supreme Court later deemed the measure to be unconstitutional, and as a result, kept prohibition in place. The measure that was approved in 2023 in Ghana seemed to directly address the reported legal insufficiencies.
