Damian Marley Talks Stony Hill Cannabis and the ICBC with Smell the Truth

Damian "Jr Gong" Marley

Having a legendary icon for a parent definitely must have its pros and cons. One one hand, you can have a lifestyle and opportunities that others don’t have. On the other hand, there are expectations and pressures put on you that others don’t have to live up to. Michael Jordan infamously told his kids in his Hall of Fame speech that, “You guys have a heavy burden. I wouldn’t want to be you if I had to because of all the expectations you have to deal with.” How do you follow in the footsteps of a legend? For Damian Marley, the youngest son of the iconic Bob Marley, it is forging his own path in both cannabis and music, launching his own cannabis brand and winning GRAMMY Awards in his own right. Damian spoke with Smell the Truth to discuss his Stony Hill cannabis company, the Jamrock Reggae Cruise, and his upcoming appearance at the International Cannabis Business Conference in Barcelona.

Check out the entire interview with StT. Here’s a snippet where he provided a glimpse of what he hopes to convey at the ICBC in Barcelona:

StT: What topics are you planning on discussing at the International Cannabis Business Conference?

DM: Part of my mission is to try to represent the original culture, the original people who were a part of this culture before it became something legal, and something that became commercially beneficial to corporations and their investors.

I always try to be a voice and an advocate for the small farmers who have risked their freedom over the years to be a part of growing and selling herb, and hope that they still have some kind of continued involvement in this industry as it becomes legitimate.

With a collection of vape pens, cannabis strains, and hemp CBD, the Stony Hill brand is well-positioned to be a major player in the global industry, while Marley isn’t losing sight of his music or the culture that provides the foundation for reggae and the cannabis community. With experienced cannabis activist and journalist Steve Bloom interviewing Marley, the ICBC conference program in Barcelona will close with a bang before Damian really helps end the ICBC’s first event in Spain in style by hosting an after-party that folks in town for the ICBC and Spannabis will not want to miss.
